They insult all the old candle fans intelligence by trying to convince us of lie. Shame on you!!! Even the wax melts at Big Lots a brand called Living Colors are better than Yankee, and seem to be a softer, vegetable-like wax.
They know good and well the product their peddling today has zero comparison in quality to the original Yankee Candles. They think we are stupid and are just going to believe their BS excuses for the Candles smelling like nothing these days once lit. The new owners are now being forced to cut huge corners to make a profit and to do this they have severely reduced the amount of scent they use in each and every candle except a very few scents.
They are also flooding the market with Yankee Candles which are sold everywhere now. Their greed will catch up to them sooner than later and at that point Yanke Candle will go bankrupt and cease to exists. I read a lot of comments online about people who like very light barely-there scented candles and tarts. Yes I said it. I spent the extra buck 50 for Yankee brand the other day because 2 of them smelled amazing in the containers.

It may be a weaker, lighter scent. But the throw is important even if that is the case. My husband is burning Leaves and it is heavier and spicer with an excellent throw. A candle is useless if one has to be almost on top of it to smell anything.
Yankee Candles are now the worst of the worst. Yankee candles still smell good in the stores, but once lit your sure to be disappointed as there is minuscule to no scent throw anylonger. Also Jackson is right about the petroleum oil based Yankee Candles. They are toxic for sure. If your lucky enough to still own some old Yankee Candles by all means use them.
After a few days of burning take a damp white cloth and wipe your ceiling above where you were burning your Yankee Candle. You will be shocked by the amount of black soot the Yankee Candles leave behind on your ceiling. Just think you and your family are inhaling this stuff also. For coloring you can only use dyes made for candles. Oh you make candles? Nothing but candle dye can be used period! If you have ever made a clean burning great smelling candle, you would not say it is that easy!
Especially in pure soy! Insult to real candle makers, you have no idea how much testing goes into making a candle! You need to test every single scent, to see what wick will work the best, it takes a long time to perfect your craft! So no not every stay at home mom can do it! Soy wax and paraffin both emit carbon when they burn. Both can soot. Essential oils can be toxic when burned, especially to pets, and crayons can clog the wick. Making candles is not as easy as throwing a few ingredients together.
It takes a lot of testing to get a quality candle. The size of the wick depends on the size of the container, the type of fragrance oil, dye, and the type of wax used. If one uses a wick that is too large, the container can become too hot and burst, or the flame can become too large and cause a fire. We have even left them burning whilst doing things in the yard for hours and still smell nothing when we went back in. One has to wonder why YC was allowed to deteriorate to such an extent. I understand they were bought twice: in and It seems the latter was the year that complaints starting appearing about the quality of their candles. The amount of fragrance must have been drastically reduced, or else something else changed which affects the scent or lack of. They are incredible.
We are using their Pumpkin Marshmallow Vanilla and it is probably one one of the best candles Inhave ever burned and the throw is great! I want to try the Slotkin candles but with a limited budget at present, I need to keep an eye on spending. However, the deals have been so great at Bath and Body Works that I have sent in an order almost every week. Have yet to be disappointed. My single wick throws out a scent that not only fills the bedroom but can be detected even as one is approaching the area. Bought the Pumpkin Vanilla in a very nicely designed jar and it just smells soooo good. Have to try the one with the marshmallow as well.
If you like their candles check out homeworx by harry slatkin. The candles at Bath and Body works are his formulas. He sold to them years ago and started his own brand again. I gave up on Yankee candles too. Lily Flame candles are fabulous and Fairy Dust has the most amazing scent. No only are they less scented BUT the old large candles had a burn time of hours, the new large jars have a burn time of hours but are the same price!!
Rip off! Since Yankee Candle was sold… Their candles suck!! They are making a fortune off of people with their cheap, Low quality candles with no scent!! I opened each up and found they hardly had a scent to it.

The new personalised ones are a gimmick. I purchased the reed at xmas last year, they ruined my bathroom, where the reed dropped onto a white high gloss top. Uh, free candles? Absolute crooks. Crooks, absolute crooks. Now here we are in spring of and the Yankee Candles really suck for scent. The labels even have been sheared down to a slit. Sad that people could change the downhill blowout of Yankee candles without fragrance, but they just choose to buy buy buy. Read review on their site and most complain about this too.
I burned a yankee candle I had saved for several years. A fruit fusion, because I hoarded them when they were discontinued. I lit the fruit fusion from about 5 years ago and then a week later lit a new sea salt citrus and WOW what a huge difference in scent. The fruit fusion scented my entire house in a half hour, the new citrus sea salt literally had no scent while burning. I burned the sea salt citrus all day and it never gave a scent off. Nothing after coming back in after a while.

A vast majority of there candles offer little to no scent, and or scent throw once lit at home. Yankee Candle is knowingly scamming people out of their hard earned money these days. This is all so sad as the new owners of Yankee Candle had a gold mind in their hands. All they had to do was follow the formula, but they Became greedy, very greedy and cut corners and will ultimately pay the price. I saw how popular these candles are. I bought a coconut beach candle last week. It smelled good in the store. But when I lit it at home it had virtually no scent! What a waste of money!

Yesterday while shopping at my local Super Giant grocery store I came across a new candle section. I immediately said to me, can it be? Have the new owners of Yankee Candle Newell Rubbermaid finally come to their senses and gone back to the old Yankee formula that had much, much more scent in the candles?
I agree that their new formula smells great cold but produce almost no scent throw at all. My Berrylicious smells fantastic and my new Berrylicious smells almost like nothing! Wow so very disappointing. I have a collection of the old Yankee Candles.
The ones with the wide table or Country Kitchen. Those are the ones with fragrance and throw. They get away with lying to people not telling people what their candles are even made from, nobody wants to steal their secrets their candles are crap now! Most of their products come from China, they can deny it its true! So basically you pay 30 dollars for a candle that cost them maybe maybe 4 to make, the average Mom and pop candle store make way less from their candles one , they actually use the amount of fragrance that is supposed to be added to a candle!

I bought a 3 wick daisy Yankee candle, the odor i really cannot even explain.. Smelt great in the store lighting it a complete different smell, made me sick it was so horrible. Every one still buys from Yankee. I wrote Yankee Candle a letter and here is there lane mostly form letter reply when anyone complains about no cent.
We have not changed the formulas in our candles. We are know for our fragrances and are not sure why the store manager would have said that they were changed. We have not changed any of our scents. What you are asking is really an age-old question relating to the science of smelling and the art of fragrance. The answer is not really in the percent of fragrance that is in a candle, because we use as much fragrance oil as we can to make the scent smell as true-to-life as possible while delivering a candle that will burn properly from the moment you light it until the end.
The answer is multi-faceted. There are some scents that are just naturally stronger than others think of a bouquet of flowers, chances are the lily will be the scent you smell above all others. Sometimes there is a scent that is more difficult for one person to smell while others smell it very strongly cinnamon is a perfect example of this.

Each time I get back a bunch of BS excuses from their customer service department who have been coached on what to say about all the complaints. Yankee Candles were once so amazing. I feel ya! I have about candles. I like to think of myself as a collector. I only have 1 Yankee candle left.
I still like it and find it to have a decent throw. The scents are definitely gone when the company got sold. I think the customer have been sold out. I am most disappointed in the candle accessories that always drew me into the store.
When i bought accessories to decorate for the season I then bought the tarts, candles, votives to use with the accessory. Now the accessories are metal junk, gone are the nice ceramic pieces that were so lovely, whimsical, adorable. I have written to YC many times telling them they should check eBay to see that their accessories are now collectible and if they would take a hint and bring back some nice decorative accessories their business would draw customers.
They never reply. I know it is useless but sometimes I just have to vent. Well, just check their website and many Boney bunch items are on clearance because they have lost their customers. No more long lines at the store waiting for their Halloween reveal. I will not be surprised if they start closing stores and filing bankruptcy. It is really sad! Yankee was a big part of our family over the years and brought so much joy to our family and so many others. No more though and I was so angry when I dropped hundreds and hundreds dollars at the end of their great run trying to figure out why the candles no longer smelled the way I always remembered.

I have to say that I buy a stock of yankee candles every month, large candles, melts and the new ones. I usually stick to the same fragrances which throw out a lot of sent, I am in the UK. My taste is blossom, black cherry, midnight jasmin you get the picture. Same here. There are some great webpage that rank the strongest throws. Those are my go-tos and I love them!!
