He requested that the check be made to him personally. Prior to allowing him to do the installation, I contacted a manager at Hughesnet who verified this information. He stated that these were sub-contractors and they purchased their own supplies.
When I expressed my dissatisfaction from being mis-lead regarding installation charges, the manager offered to deduct my installation charges from my account and that my first month would be free. Charges were debited from my credit card - I did not receive a free month - and no-one was able to reverse the charges. There was no local technician available to service us. We had to wait one week for shipment of a new router that we had to install. Hughesnet actually required us to pay the shipping charges for the return of "their" faulty equipment 3 Upon signing up for service, you are given the option of automatic bank account drafts or paper billing at an extra 5.
We selected paper billing, but were told that the first month was a mandatory draft from the credit card. The automatic drafts continued. We contacted Hughesnet twice over four months to have the billing procedure changed. Eventually, we had to cancel the card.
Finally, the paper bill started coming in the mail. One month, we made a payment on line using our debit card by clicking on a link titled "make this one time payment".
Since then, they have taken it upon themselves to automatically draft from our account. Upon notifying a customer service rep, we were refused help as always and have had to now cancel our debit card.
Last edited by gwind; at PM.. Yes I have the Verizon broadband modem and it works nice. The only issue sometimes would be location for most folks. Its just like your cell phone, if you do not have a good signal it will cut in and out on you. I would go with the broadband modem before I would Hughes or Blue.
