Darry is the oldest of the three. Hyde —. Despite coming from rough neighborhoods and being shunned by society, not all greasers are law-breaking criminals. Take the greasers from S. Many of them could be considered heroes for their good deeds and heroic personalities.
That is why I believe three of the greasers from The Outsiders, Dally, Ponyboy, and Johnny, despite looking like criminals, are actually heroes in many ways. To start off, the baddest and toughest of the greasers, a hoodlum and. Greasers could be considered heroes based off of their actions. One example to support this, was how Darry started working instead of continuing his dream of going to college so that they had enough money to survive. Lastly, it was very heroic when Ponyboy and Johnny saved the little.
E Hinton, Ponyboy tests the bounds of his world, freeing himself from the limitations and prejudices that had been foisted upon him. As he does so, though, he comes to understand his great responsibility to others.
Heroism Heroes are found in every work of art. One of the things that Ponyboy did physically that was courageous was running into the Church to save the children. Firstly, he sticks up for Johnny after he stabs Bob and he supports him all the way until he dies at the end. He also stands by the gang and fights with them in the rumble even though he was not feeling well.
Ponyboy is a great person who sees that people should be treated the same and is courageous. Throughout the novel it is strongly evident that Johnny Cade is one of the most courageous characters. He also ran into the church to back up Ponyboy. This shows that he stuck by his friends and put the wellbeing of others before himself.
Another reason why I think Johnny was a hero is because his home life was very hard but he got on with his life and put up with it. Dally helped Johnny and Ponyboy hide after killing Bob. He provided Johnny and Ponyboy; a gun heater , fifty dollars and directions to an old church in Windrixville till it all blew over.
He exhibits all the characteristics and actions of someone who would certainly be considered a hero. He is compassionate for those who are weaker and more vulnerable, and helps them in spite of his fears for his own safety. His actions in the case of Filippo set his apart from others, as a hero. Michele defies his parent's wishes and, with the knowledge he would be in trouble, he returns to Filippo to honor his promise. However, it is his actions in the end of the text that define him as a hero.
Generally, heroes exhibit a strong sense of morality and justice. V is a hero in the sense that he is fighting for a better life not for himself, but for all of those around him. He fights to serve the innocent. V puts others before himself as seen when he selflessly saves Evey from the no doubt unforgiving fate of the fingermen.
Showing compassion when Evey recounts how she remembers her younger years during the times of war in their country, V proves that he is not truly heartless, he has the capacity for mercy and sympathy. During Anglo-Saxton times the interpretation of such an act, based on the tale Beowulf, would not be so understanding of what was intended, but rather of the outcome.
If one perished and failed in an attempt of such a heroic act words like weakness might arise. Beowulf in Beowulf is a hero for he defeats evil and restores order to and for the common people. Unferth in Grendel however is unsuccessful in his campaign against evil, but like the man who emerges empty handed he is by no means any less of a hero.
Cunningham for his payment because he knew that it would only embarrass him and make him feel of a lower status. Johnny, along with Ponyboy, rush into a burning church and pull trapped children to safety Hinton, Although it cost him his life, Johnny never regretted his heroic act of saving the kids from the burning….
A true hero is: someone who puts others needs in front of theirs and never does anything bad to hurt anyone. In The Outsiders, by S. Hinton, three law-breaking Greasers are said to be heros from saving a few kids from a fire. Even though, Johnny and Dally may have had a small sense of heroism when they were willing to risk their lives to save the children, there are too many other moments where they ruined their chances of earning a medal of honor.
It's worth it. It's worth saving those kids. Their lives are worth more than mine, they have more to live for. Leaders that show high levels of this characteristic fight for what they believe in, even if it results in their own death.
A story and character that demonstrates these characteristics pretty well is Beowulf. Beowulf was an altruistic individual who ended up giving up his life in order to saver other people's lives. Beowulf also showed zero fear when dealing with the different circumstances he was forced into as well as the situations he put himself into.
Another story that shows examples of an individual being brave is the poem Battle of Maldon. Later, Johnny dies after saving children from a fire.
