Yes, this is the channel I watch the show on. Mary parker I do too it comes on at ,pm for an hour then comes on at ,pm for an hour here in east Tennessee, I watch it every day. It was a great show m with some thing new every week, you could learn how to restore, see things that are long gone, get history on items , The history channel made a big mistake when they canceled this show and should bring it back. American Restoration is easily one of my favorite show of all time. I grieved when the history channel dropped the show and fired the cast.
It embodied many things that I love — history, craftsmanship and American ingenuity. I wish another network would pick up the show like Fox picking up Last Man Standing History Channel seems to be sinking from one level of mediocrity to the next. Whilst I enjoyed seeing something restored to new and watched all the shows.
There were a few things that concerned me. As the programs progressed, there was more about the staff and personal activities then showing the work done on the items.
Sometimes all that was seen was the item brought in and then being returned. The work was done to such an extent that barley any of the original item remained. In one episode, a gambling wheel was taken in, the entire thing was stripped to bare wood and then restored.
Effectively all that was returned to the customer was the original wood, everything else was brand new. At no time were there any none Caucasian on the show, only white Americans on both the staff and customers. He also only used male staff, other than family.
Your point??? Get your head out of your racist butt. What an imbecile and retrograde observation. Narrow minded, hateful people like you are ruining this country. Grow a brain and with it some common sense.
Stop watching tv and read some books instead. How stupid can you be?! Go figure. Yeah the red rocker!! Having heard that the show is being cancelled really hurts.
Fire the producers not the cast and show. My opinion. Great show, watching it in Thanks Rick and crew! Your show was very informative, i learned a lot of useful information. I loved your show and watched it everytime it was on. We loved the show had a laugh as it had its sad moments to. We will be very sad to see u gone. We come from tasmania. I blame the directors they should of kept the show on track. Great show watch it on quest. Like other replies on here, loved the show too.
I really like the show, I hope it comes back on the air. I like watching the restoration of old things being brought back to life. I like the cast it was just a good show to watch.
I can not believe the show was cancelled or that they were fired!!! We watch every day now on Antenna TV, thankfully. Even though it is the-runs… we still love it! Excellent and impressive!!!!
Needs to be brought back on regular tv!!! Kowboy Kevin lowery is a child molester. He molested my daughter. And american restoration cast knew he was a creep and did nothing to report it.
Truly an awesome show, we still watch the reruns. Love your show and hope to see it again. Love the show and cast. Rick wanted Taylor to take over the family shop one day, however, the boy was slightly laid-back and preferred to do things at his own pace.
He was also good at skills like sandblasting and soda blasting. Tyler is still in the rebuild and restoration business. He is very active on Instagram and keeps on posting interesting bits about his current gigs. He is also active on Instagram. If you are looking to collect the AMC Pacer today, you are bound to be spoilt for choice. Medha Karn is an all cars and trucks fanatic. I loved watching 'the family' each week and watching Rick teach his son and stepson responsibility and seeing them become productive members of society after learning their skilled trade. Wonderful show! It was like watching a 's era family.
Sure, people argued and bickered. But, that's life. I spent my life working the oil fields and shipyards around the world.
That's kind of the norm for folks in the skilled trade fields. The 7 is because, as others have noted, there's sometimes a little too much padding and too little restoration I really want to see the items brought through the restoration process, not just a big "voila!
That said, I like it. I like the actual folks involved well, I'm kinda anti-Kelly, but she just doesn't seem to add a lot. Tyler also has a solid relationship with his dad, of course; they jerk each others' chain every so often, and being a teen Tyler isn't so crazy about being disciplined, but they have their buddy-buddy moments as well loved the fan Tyler restored for Father's Day, in his dad's favorite color! The rest of the crew Kowboy, Kyle, Brettly, all good. Kowboy can be counted on for a good zinger; my favorite of his is when he said "That guy loses more parts than a leper on a pogo stick!
This is one of the shows I point to when I hear someone say "all reality TV is garbage". No it's not. Maybe MOST of it is, but every now and then you find a gem, and this show is one of 'em. I like seeing the items that are brought to Rick Dale go from old and rusty to new. Its fun learning about things that I never knew existed. Rick Dale seems to know a lot about the things he restores.
However getting back to Mr Dale every customer I see that visits HIS particular yard MUST BE a Millionaire OR at least have a few thousand dollars stashed away that they aren't going to miss because every client is given a quote in 'telephone numbers' and never seems to blink an eyelid, no matter how small the job? This show started out pretty good, but went down hill fast. So much fake drama, Kowboy, the wife etc They must all be very unlikable if some streaming service there are so many now hasn't brought back a new version of this show.
Who did History Channel think was the demographics for this? Nobody wants to see all the scripted drama and stupidity. The show had great chemistry between the characters. In my opinion the allegations of a fake show were based on only a few small instances. There are no crew members that have said anything about the show in this matter so it is mainly speculation. Most of the show appears unscripted, unlike Shipping Wars which is almost entirely and crew members confirmed.
There were very few problems with items being restrored. A short list has been bought to the publics attention. Given thousands of items over 30 plus years this means Rick has a less than 1 pct rate of fail.
This is better than every major manufacturer. Remember, Rick is dealing with items that are many decades old or sometimes over years. Parts are hard to find, and trying to understand the workings is a guessing game that their talented crew decerns from a long history of experience.
I am a long term electronic service engineer specialized to professional video tape recorders. I do also much restoration work with old radios etc. It is just awful to see how they destroy those nice old things removing every single nuance and original paint they have.
Even if the paintwork is really good for its age. They repaint using their own colors which usually are too bright and do not fit to these old beauties. Also they ruin labels and texts when they can't do them right. They use wrong fonts and wrong colors etc. Also they change old, beautiful gears and buttons and other things which made the apparatus look so fine.
Did they sell those to real restorers or museums? Also the prices are something ridiculous. I wonder if anybody really has paid those huge sums for that bad job. One of the worst was the Nasa helmet they totally ruined. SixteenFiftyNine 16 October That unfortunately tells most of the story about this show. Having been in restoration and custom work I have a lot of interest in these shows.
The work and the subject of the work can be interesting, the scripted drama is nonsense. If you know anything about restoration and what you're looking at on this show in particular, they'll show you something that is a lie.
Example, the episode I just finished watching and a bunch of drama about this new guy working with the kid and supposedly grinding thru the metal. You can clearly see he gauged the metal a little easily fixed with some TIG or even MIG skill but the hole is actually a manufactured in hole.
Grind holes don't have surface corrosion around the inside diameter of it. This was just the example I watched just now, there are so many more like this. The show is a good solid 8 or more for subject of restorations. Overall, with all the nonsense, I feel I'm being generous with a 4.
The scripted crap is distracting. One of the more watchable "Reality" shows if you just ignore the cast clowing around. Rick Dale is a master of restoring practically anything!
Watching him restore something that should be buried in a crap heap to something that looks factory new is the appeal of the show. For some reason producers feel they have to have a sitcom feel and have the cast joke around with their asinine antics. If you can get past that you can enjoy the show. This show should at least be an hour long. Every aspect of this show is just great.
